1. About This Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how FileBackerz.com, LLC ("FileBackerz," "we," "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on filebackerz.com and within the FileBackerz service (together, the "Service").

It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more generally how we handle personal information. Where this Policy uses terms defined in the Privacy Policy or the Terms of Service, those definitions apply.

2. What Cookies Are

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device. It lets the site recognise your browser on a later visit, remember choices you made, and keep you signed in between page loads.

We also use technologies that behave similarly without being cookies in the strict sense — local storage, session storage, and small tracking pixels. Where this Policy says "cookies," it covers all of these.

Cookies are either first-party (set by filebackerz.com) or third-party (set by another domain, such as an analytics or infrastructure provider). They are either session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain for a set period.

3. Categories We Use

We also use local storage and session storage, which Section 2 brings within this Policy. Nothing below is used for tracking, and none of it leaves your device except as part of an ordinary request to us.

5. Third-Party Technologies

We do not permit third parties to use cookies on our site for their own advertising or profiling purposes.

6. Your Choices

6.2. Global Privacy Control

We honour the Global Privacy Control ("GPC") signal. If your browser or extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information and, where applicable, as a signal not to set non-essential cookies. You do not need to do anything else.

6.3. Browser controls

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings, and offer private browsing modes. These controls are useful, but note two things: they are not how we obtain your consent, and blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in to the Service.

Guidance for the major browsers is published by their makers — search for "cookie settings" plus the name of your browser.

6.4. Do Not Track

There is no accepted industry standard for how sites should respond to the Do Not Track browser signal, and we do not currently respond to it. We do respond to Global Privacy Control, as described above.

7. Cookies Within the Service Itself

Once you are signed in, the cookies we use are almost entirely strictly necessary — they keep your session alive, protect your requests, and remember which Workspace you are in. The Service cannot operate without them, and there is no way to use FileBackerz with these disabled.

Analytics within the signed-in Service, where used, is limited to product usage measurement and is subject to the same consent requirements as on our public site.

Files you store in FileBackerz are never placed in cookies or local storage on other people's devices. Share links are ordinary URLs; opening one may set a strictly necessary cookie on the recipient's device to manage that session.

8. Changes to This Policy

We will update this Policy when we add, remove, or change the technologies we use. The effective date at the top will change, and where the update materially expands the processing that depends on your consent, we will ask for your consent again.

We review this Policy against a live scan of the site at least annually.
